Prayer For A Friend

Hey All,
Just thought I would share a prayer I wrote for a friend who is struggling.

Dear Lord—

See there is this girl I know, and Lord she is struggling. She loves you so much and wants your will for her life, but life keeps on throwing her curveballs. You should see how amazing her faith is through all of this Lord, you would be super impressed! She continues to pray, and give it all to you, despite the situation and how rough it may get. Let me tell you about her.

She is one of those girls who you can talk to about anything and her response is never plain, never wrong and never selfish. It is the complete opposite, its giving, honest, vibrant, and selfless. You can see how much she cares, through and through. She is one of the strongest people I know, and puts others before herself. She is beautiful, caring, sweet, honest, faithful, and willing. She knows what to say or what to do when you need her. She is a listening ear, and a loving heart. You always know that you are going to be okay when you are with her, because she will help you carry through.

Lord, you see she has a few problems too, problems trusting and loving herself. Lord you can see her beauty completely shining through, please help her to see how beyond gorgeous she is, inside and out. Help her to notice the wonderful gift of beauty you have blessed her with. As for trusting, give her strength, and knowledge. The strength to persevere and the knowledge to know your path, and to trust fully in you that will lead her to trust others. Please watch over her future husband and prepare him for his wonderful bride who is this amazing young lady. Prepare him to knock down the walls that have been created, so he can move closer to you and to her. Showing her is unconditional love, just like yours that she longs and hopes for. Help them to patiently wait for your right timing to come when you will bring them together. Bless them with the ability to love and cherish one another as you love and cherish them.

She trusts in you fully Lord, please help and guide her. Watch over her while I cannot be with her, and keep her safe. Comfort and be with her, for I cannot because of distance.

Oh and Lord… by the way… Her name is (for her privacy her name will not be used)

Thank you so much!

Ashley

"Even Though I Walk, Through The Valley, Of The Shadow Of Death, Your Perfect Love Is Casting Out Fear.."

Hey all,
In my post a few weeks ago called "Crazy Love" about my on going struggle to come out of a dry period in my faith life. I just wasnt feeling God, feeling his presence at all.

And now to my amazement.... He has shown me that He is right here with me :)

I hear Him and see Him in my friends all the time, and I am so grateful for God giving me wonderful friends. I see Him with the people and residents at my work. I have learned to see Him in the small things, and I now realize that everything that happens is because of Him. The words I speak are not my own, the things I do are not my own, they are all for the Glory of God. :)

So many things have been happening that have forced me to put my trust in God 100% and leave it that way, its challenging, but i feel reassurance through it. I've come to realize that making decisions, doesnt only revolve around me, it revolves around Christ's will for my life :)

"Ironically" enough my mom came home from her NYC trip yesterday, and she brought me something... They visited St. Patricks Cathedral and she brought me home this bookmark. The book mark is of Mother Teresa, and it has a medal of her on the top of it :) Immediately I loved it! Then I realized Mother Teresa's story.... for those of you who are unfamiliar with her story, she gave up everything and went among the poorest of poor to serve because God told her to do so. She was an amazing woman, but what most people dont know is just like you and I... she fell into spiritual darkness, for years on end, but she overcame it. Through all of this she continued to serve God and Glorify Him, even if she wasnt hearing Him or knowing He was there. :) Sooo cool! :)

"Holiness is not the luxury of the few, it is a simple duty, for you and for me"- Mother Teresa :)

God Blesses Us

Hey all! :)

So I need to share something with you all, and its amazing.

I have BEYOND amazing friends! :) They are always there for me and know what to say no matter what. Last night I woke up to a phone call at 2am, i looked and saw it was one of my guy friends from St. Johns. I saw his name come up on my phone and inside i thought "Oh no! Whats wrong?!?" I answer the phone and my guy friend is completely in awe of God's grace, that helped him through a situation. It was such an amazing conversation to hear God working through him, as well as God speaking to me through him. It was just a great God moment and I felt so blessed.

Thinking about all of these things I thought about how many AMAZING friends I have. God has blessed me so much with amazing people who want whats best for me and are always here to support me. I see God's love in all of them. I am so blessed and daily i will continue to thank God for the amazing friends he has blessed me with :)

God Bless, and Take Care,
Ashley

My Desire

You want to be real, you want to be empty inside, You want to be someone laying down your pride, You want to be someone someday Then lay it all down before the king, You want to be whole, you want to have purpose inside, You want to have virtue and purify your mind, You want to be set free today Then lay it all down before the King, This is my desire, this is my return, This is my desire to be used by You, You want to be real, you want to be emptied inside, And I know my heart is to feel You near, And I know my life It's to do Your will This is my desire, this is my return, This is my desire, to be used by You Oo yea This is my desire, this is my desire To be used by You All my life I have seen Where You've taken me Beyond all I have hoped And there's more left unseen There's not much I can do to repay all You've done So I give my hands to use This is my desire, this is my return This is my desire, to be used by You Oo yea This is my desire, this is my desire To be used by You

Could You Be A Little Clearer?!?

Hey All!

So today has not been the best day ever..... The Ex is in a new relationship after 1 month and 4 days, fantastic right?!?!? Not so much. Not getting the whole telling me he loves me a month and 4 days ago and now he is on to someone new... interesting! But all i can do right now is pray for him and this girl. Hopefully he can grow closer to Christ.

I have been working out with a trainer who is really great, plus eating healthier. So i am hoping that all pays off! :)

I have been a counselor at middle school day camp this week and it has been so great! :) Those middle schoolers rock! :)

Please pray for me as I am still going through a dry patch, trying to work my way out of it :)

Thanks all!

Ashley

Here it is!

Hey all! :) Here is my Life And Dignity Of The Human Person talk :) This amazing church that we belong to has 7 different social teachings that you will learn about this week at camp, one of my “favorites” that I feel passionate about is the Life and Dignity Of Human Person. The definition of this social teaching is:

We as Catholics believe that the dignity of the human person starting from conception through to natural death. They believe that human life must be valued infinitely above material possessions.

To break this down a little more, everyone should be respected and treated equally, loved for who they are, just as Christ loves us. Our wonderful maker, God loves us so much too that He created us in HIS own image! In Genesis 1 it talks about how God created this world, the main part that I think is amazing is that in Genesis 1:27 it says “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Now picture this…. Say every time you looked at someone you saw Jesus’ face! Would you treat them with respect and love? Or would you turn the other cheek? Like the Bible says everyone is created in HIS image, so as much as we love God and Jesus and they love us why not share that love with other people?! Ahh ha you see where I am going now?!

Now I just want to leave you with an amazing verse that talks about how much Jesus loves each and every one of us, and how he knew how precious and special our life is, before even our parents did!

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5

Woah sweet huh!?! Seeing that Christ loves us so much, why not share that love with everyone else?! Show everyone they are special in His eyes, and respect and honor their dignity as a Child Of God.

God Bless,
Ashley

Life And Dignity Of The Human Person

Hey all!! :)

So I am working on a talk to give tomorrow for our first day of Middle School Day Camp! I am so excited to be a leader for the 2nd year! :)

My talk is on the Catholic Social Teaching- Life and Dignity of the Human Person. Something that I feel pretty passionate about! Right now its hard for me beacause its hard to approach the subject with middle schoolers. I want to make sure they feel well respected for their age, and at the same time make this talk something they can understand and "relate" to. And Man is it tough!!!!!! I have no idea what I am going to say, right now Im givin' it to the Holy Spirit! Please speak through me as I write this out!

Some facts that I found, which made me sick to my stomach....

"There were 200,420 abortions among 15–19-year-olds in 2006.[9]
•Twenty-seven percent of pregnancies among 15–19-year-olds ended in abortion in 2006. [9]
•The reasons teens give most frequently for having an abortion are concern about how having a baby would change their lives, inability to afford a baby now and feeling insufficiently mature to raise a child.[14]
•As of January 2010, 34 states require that a minor seeking an abortion involve her parents in the decision.[15]
•Six in 10 minors who have abortions do so with at least one parent's knowledge. The great majority of parents support their daughter's decision to have an abortion.[16]"

How sad and heart-wretching is that?!? :( :( Oh goodness.... :(
I'd like to leave you these verses that I feel shows and gives proof to honoring the life and diginity of the human person...
"Then God said: "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness." Genesis 1:26
"God created man in his image; in the diving nimage he created him; male and female he created them." Genesis 1:27

Please leave your comments and suggestions on his topic and my talk!! :) Greatly Appreciated!!

God Bless,
Ashley :)

Is It Worth It?

Hello Readers!!! I'd like to present you with a situation and ask your opinion on it. This has been something that has been pulling/hurting my heart lately.

I am a firm believer that it takes 2 to make a good and wholesome relationship, and it cant be just one sided. Lately I have been hurt by a "friend" of mine. I try my best to make an effort to talk to him, ask him about his life and how he is doing. But then I feel like he doesnt seem to care about me anymore, he just babbles on about him, not even bothering to ask me how I am doing or anything... And it bothers me that I am the one anitiating all the conversaitions. Should I really have to do that? I dont know, this may sound selfish and I dont mean it to, I just dont know what to do?

Then I look at my other friendships with wonderful guys, guys from camp (YTM), youth group and some from school too, and they dont do that to me. We all have our problems but at the same time I wonder how much more I can take.... : /

I havent talked to this guy in probly over a week because I decided not to anitiate anything anymore. For some reason its really bothering me.

What do you think? Whats your definition of friendship? Do you agree or disagree?

Thanks and God Bless,
Ashley

Crazy Love

Hey all!

In the past few days I have had at least 4 people reccomend this book to me. So yesterday, I was in Maple Grove after my Nanny job, so I decided to run to one of my favorite stores... Barnes and Noble! :) Woot! :) And of course they had the book! So im pretty pumped right now, I am "working" so hard to try and get my spritual life back to where it was, no wait scratch that, I want it BETTER than it was :)
I am only on the first chapter of "Crazy Love" and I cant wait! :)

Have you read it? What do you think of it? Any suggestions/comments?

Continuing with my theme of growing and loosing my heart, I had a facebook chat with my lovely Youth Minister Kym, she gave me this fantastic analogy!
"Don't worry it will go away; it's like the seasons.... you have spiritual spring (TONS of faith-filled lovin'), then summer of dry-ness, the fall of faith (a good fall cleaning of your sins/great reconciling times with God), and then there's frozen tundra of doom (aka minnesota OR when it's a of questioning/uncertainity)..."- Oh Kym you rock! Thanks for always being there for me! Haha and after that MN comment can you tell she isnt from here??! haha :)

God Bless!

The Beauty Of A Woman

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, Or the way she combs her hair The beauty of a woman must be seen from her eyes Because that is the doorway to her heart the place where love resides. The beauty of a woman is not a facial mole but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul It is the caring she lovingly gives It is the caring she lovingly gives, the Passion that she shows the beauty of a woman with passing year only grows and grows <3

I Wanna Loose My Heart

Hey All! :) Man I have been feeling the need to blog more, and I find it fun now that i have the time! haha :)

Thank you everyone who has commented on my previous post, i really appreciate it! Please continue to comment with any ideas you may have! :)

I have been thinking about what all has been happening in my life, and after reading my friend Kami's blog it helped inspire me to write this post.

Being straight forward and flat out..... I WANNA LOOSE MY HEART! Not to some random guy but to Christ! I wanna be totally wrapped up in God, my faith and the church. Living life to the fullest, but living for HIM!

I am continuing to write in my prayer journal, pray more, and dive into scripture which is great. But i am hoping to loose my heart in Christ as I dive deeper! :) :) Oh my goodness i am so excited, I really hope i can do it! Not sure how but I want to! :)

Any suggestions or tips?? Please let me know! :)
God Bless,
Ashley :)

What Now?

Hey all!!

So I have been thinking lots about this and I feel the need to open myself up again, right here, right now.
Here we go!!

Lately I have been feeling.... Nothing. Let me explain...
I desire to have such an amazing relationship with Jesus, and God, but when it comes to prayer, listening or feeling his presence... I feel..again Nothing. I have been working on writing in my prayer journal nightly, praying out of a prayer book, and taking time for God but I dont feel anything. I am unsure whats wrong with me! Its driving me crazy! All I want to do is dive in deeper and deeper, go that extra mile, but I am lost on how to do that. Do you have any ideas? Suggestions? Comments? And could you please pray for me on my journey? I desire this soo bad... just to be back with Jesus and God.

Also I have been feeling down at times and I feel there is a relation between these two things. It is such a struggle I have no idea how to get past! Please help! Pray, comment, suggest, and give ideas?? Thank you so much! :)

I really needed to get that off my chest, hopefully things will look up for me and my relationship with my Maker.

God Bless,
Ashley

Look Who Is Romancin' Me!

Hey all! :)

So after a few weeks of not posting much I am back :) and super pumped because I got the Droid smartphone, and can update my blog from my phone :) :) oppss... maybe i should have said that because now i might be held accountable for more updates, if i get the app working.. lol :)

I dont have much time to fully talk about the things that i have been working on in my life, but i will write more in-depth about them in the next upcoming days :) But here are the things that i am working on!
-Loving Myself For Who God Made Me To Be
-Discernment
-Livin' my Single life to the fullest
-More prayer and prayer journaling

Dont worry you will hear more about those in the upcoming days! :) But right now, since i am home from YTM i have been feeling a pull to dive deeper, and make my relationship with God and Jesus a romantic one. As noted by the Title! Haha dont worry there isnt another guy, this is about my amazing creator! :) So i will leave you with this article that i found that really spoke to me and i did pass it on to a few of my close friends who would appreciate this :)
http://www.lifeteen.com/blog/holy-romance-4-ways-you-can-start-your-romance-with-god there is the link for ya! Here is the little excerpt that i loved....

"In the meantime, God wants to romance us. He says in Hosea 2:14, “Therefore, behold, I will allure her, bring her into the wilderness and speak kindly to her.” God has an adventure planned for your single years. If you are not focused on Him, you may miss the opportunity to find His blessings. Here’s 4 ways you can start your romance with God:

1.Every relationship needs communication. If you want to have a healthy relationship with God, start listening to what He wants to tell you through His word. Check out the daily mass readings on LifeTeen.com or use an outline that guides you through the Bible in one year (It’s only 4-6 pages a day).

2.Evaluate your activities and try to find hobbies that bring you closer to God. Writing poetry and keeping a journal can help you release stress in your life. Try writing what you are grateful for and your prayers intentions. In a few months, revisit them and see how God answers you.

3.There are a few things to keep in mind if you decide to date. First, ask yourself what your motives are for dating. Keep an open heart and evaluate if your romantic relationships are drawing you closer or farther away from God. Always pray and discern if God wants the relationship to lead to marriage. Knowing marriage is in the distance future, ask yourself if the relationship is a good idea for your emotional and physical purity.

4.Read books that helps strengthen your faith (ask your YM or CORE for ideas). You can find books at the Life Teen online store or check out Life Teen blogs/podcasts/videos online." This is taken from LifeTeen.com

What are your thoughts?

Ashley
